Yesterday, a crowd of about three thousand people surrounded the funeral of Redskin's Sean Taylor. It was a very emotional atmosphere and also very packed out one. Lines were almost a half mile long trying to get to the sight of where Sean was being buried. Many people flew in from all over to attend the young man's burial.
In addition, his daughter Jackie and girlfriend were in attendence. Some of the other team players arrived in Miami for the funeral as well. Superstars such as Devon Hester, Regggie Wayne and Mark Ellis were all in attendence to show their support and sympathy for the young star. "Today my heart is broken," said LaVar Arrington, wiping away tears as he recalled his two years as Taylor's teammate with the Redskins. "I'll get through it. We'll all get through it."
Sean Taylor, a role model in the making, will be missed by many and unforgotten by all. In honor of Taylor, every player in the NFL wore a sticker with the number 21 on the back of their helmets. In addition, every game which was announced had a prayer said for Taylor before it.

Year For The Records
This Year in the NFL, many of the old records are being broke by many new uprising stars. Legends such as Walter Payton, Dan Marino, John Elway and many others can kiss their names goodbye in teh record books. This year alone, already this season, seven records have been broken.
One of the most incredible records I beleive is the record held by Antonio Cromartie of the Chargers. He returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a San Diego touchdown. Another record which was shattered was the kickoff/punt return touchdown record. Devon Hester of the Bears already has ten in two seasons while the record is thirteen within twelve seasons. Hesters abilty to move and his agility has helped him to overcome this record. In addition to this, Favre broke Marinos touchdown record, and also most interceptions record. Tomlinson has broken the record for fastest to 100 touchdowns by a runningback in only 8 years! Peterson of the Vikings, a rookie, broke the single game rushing record with 296 yards in a single game.
It seems as if more and more records are being broken by the younger superstars of today's generation. Brady is on pace to break the single season throwing touchdown record as well. The list seems to be growing as the years go by, but theres only one main record that has never been touched, and that is the most rushing yards. Let's see which young superstar is next to break it?

Pats Escape Close Call To Keep Perfect Season Alive
The New England Patriots have been nothing short of perfect this whole season. They are now 12-0 and play their next four games against teams with losing records. They are trying to achieve what only one other team in NFL history has done, a perfect season followed with the Superbowl victory.
Tonight they played a hostile Raven defense led by middle linebacker Ray Lewis. The Patriots seemed to be on their way to their first loss trialing by four with only a minute remaining. With the help of penalties and more, they were able to score with only 24 seconds on the clock and seal the 27-24 victory. Quarterback Tom Brady kept his cool and played his best football with the clock under two minutes.
The Patriots are expected to win the next four games, but we must wait to see what they have coming to them in the playoffs. They have gained home field advantage for as far as they go until reaching the superbowl. The Pats have become a dynasty winning five of the last eight superbowls. Lets see if they can reach that six mark this year.
The Loss Of Marbury
Knicks guard Stephon Marbury was active for a game last night at the Garden. He was having a great game putting up big numbers, but what he was unaware of was the fact that during the second half, his father was taken to a nearby hospital. Marbury was devastated to hear the news at the end of the game that his father had passed away.
This isn't the first loss of a family member of Marbury's. In addition to this, Marbury had lost his aunt a month before. He has had a rough year some would say, being booed on the court and facing family troubles off of it. Coach Isiah Thomas during an interview said, "We as a family, the Knicks family, we'll give him all the support and try to be there for him and his family through this terrible time." The coach granted Stephon to take off as many games as he pleases within the next month to try to regain himself as a person.
Marbury who was contacted by a reporter was quoted saying "I want to return soon, not only for myself, but to help out my second family in trying to make playoffs this year. I want to achieve the ultimate goal, and I want to do it for my father." It's still early in the season, but lets hope Marbury can achieve this task and become a well-respected player on the court as well.
Philadelphia Flyers: Competitors or Ice Goons?
The Philadelphia Flyers have always been known for their high flying physical style play of hockey. They are always the team that many fear to play and many say "to keep a heads up at all times against." But lately, it seems that their style of play is deteriorating and they are becoming less of competitors and more of ice goons. They have committed many injuries to other teams in dirty, vicious manners.
In the past six years alone, they have had five players which have been banned for dirty hits, and illegal use of the stick. Uses such as shot to the head, check to the head, face first shot into the boards, check to the face, and high hitting above the shoulders. Each violation has caused the players to miss a total of fifty two games in all.
The Flyers have been warned by the commissioner plenty of times to clean up their acts and change their ways of approaching a game. "The physical play is encouraged but illegal play will not be tolerated" said the commisioner. I hope we don't see a change in the style of play but just non-dirty play for the future of the Flyers.
About Time For College Football To Have A Playoff System
Entering this weekend, the BCS standings had Missouri ranked number 1 in the country and West Virgina ranked number 2. They both lost their weekend games and left college football undecided for the ranking of number 1 and 2 in college football. With their loses, they were knocked out of their possible contentions for a national title bowl game. The college polls were left with a tough deicision on who to make play for the national title.
As believed, Ohio state regained their number 1 rank due to their unbelievable season which contained only one loss. The real problem was who should be ranked number 2 considering who had the toughest schedule with the best record. The three left open was LSU (11-2), USC (11-2), and Georgia (11-2). LSU had never lost a game in regulation, both their loses came in overtimes. The college polls believe they had the best record to the toughest schedule and are going to be playing Ohio State for the national title in two weeks.
I believe the problem with this BCS standing arrangement is that the indefeated teams such as Hawaii won't get a shot at the title because of a schedule that is chosen for them. They have arguably the best or second best quarterback and top 3 defensive unit. Next year, college football is thinking of allowing the top four ranked teams to contend in a two game playoff to decide the national champion of college football.

Tragedy To Juan Lara
Cleveland Indian reliever Juan Lara was in a car accident this weekend. His family left the accident undamaged but unfortuantely for him he was taken off on a stretcher. He didn't feel any pain and regained consciousness in the hospital the same night as the accident. His family was warned about his misfortunes but he was unaware until told by his wife the following night.
Lara recieved spinal damage and severe brain trauma. He will be held in the hospital for further testing for several weeks. The doctors are unsure still if there is any type of paralysis or unaware injuries that can cause the ball players life. Even worse is the fact that the injury was caused by Lara and the other motorist and passanger were both killed in the accident. His conditions are unstable still as of now and will remain in critical condition for furthing testing.
